Yeh Chi-Chou Takes Helm at Taiwan Financial Ombudsman Institution
Taiwan’s Financial Ombudsman Institution provides an alternative dispute-resolution channel for consumers in conflicts with banks, insurers and other financial-service providers. Its role has grown more important as digital finance and increasingly complex products create new risks, requiring regulators and dispute-resolution bodies to balance innovation and market stability with effective safeguards for customers.
The institution’s board recently elected National Chengchi University distinguished professor Yeh Chi-Chou as chairman, and he assumed the post immediately after the meeting. Yeh has extensive academic and legal experience in civil property law, insurance law and financial consumer protection. He said he would emphasize professionalism, impartiality and institutional innovation while strengthening consumer rights without impeding financial innovation or market stability.
