Phison Expands AI Push as CEO Warns of Severe NAND Shortage

Phison Electronics, a major supplier of NAND Flash controllers, is positioning artificial intelligence and cloud data centers as key growth engines. Its aiDAPTIV+ platform uses Flash storage to supplement memory, aiming to lower the hardware cost of running large AI models. The Taiwan-based company is also developing storage technology for space applications as it prepares for rising data-generation and infrastructure needs.

Chief Executive K.S. Pua announced at Phison’s 2026 family day that employees would receive an additional one-month bonus totaling more than NT$400 million ($12 million). He warned that surging AI and cloud demand could cause a severe NAND Flash shortage in the second half of 2026. Phison plans to preserve cash for inventory purchases while accelerating adoption of aiDAPTIV+.
