Meta Weighs $10 Billion Annual Spend on Anthropic AI Tools
Meta and Anthropic compete in the fast-growing generative artificial intelligence market, but their relationship may also extend to that of buyer and supplier. Meta is investing heavily in its own AI models and infrastructure while racing to add new capabilities across its social-media platforms. Reliance on a rival’s products would underscore how even the largest technology companies may need outside tools to accelerate development and remain competitive.
Meta has internally considered spending as much as $10 billion a year on Anthropic’s AI products, according to the latest report. The company has also begun gradually deploying the tools across Facebook and Instagram. The report did not specify when the spending proposal was assessed or when the integrations began, but the scale of the potential procurement highlights the deep commercial interdependence underpinning the technology industry’s public AI rivalry.
