Taipei Fubon Bank, Wellington Launch Hedge Fund for Asian Asset Management Center
Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission is promoting an Asian Asset Management Center initiative to encourage financial institutions to introduce international products and retain funds from high-net-worth clients. Since 2024, Taipei Fubon Bank has used trust structures to offer offshore private credit, private equity and infrastructure funds. It has now added a hedge fund that uses long-short and market-neutral strategies to reduce the correlation risks associated with traditional stocks and bonds.
Taipei Fubon Bank announced on June 26, 2026, that it had partnered with Wellington Management to launch a hedge fund exclusively for the Asian Asset Management Center, but did not disclose the fundraising target or minimum investment threshold. Founded in 1928, Wellington manages $1.3 trillion in assets, employs more than 800 investment professionals and has over 30 years of hedge fund experience. The product targets high-net-worth clients.
