Musk Says Grok Imagine Will Make AI ‘Odyssey’ Feature by Year-End

Elon Musk has renewed criticism of Christopher Nolan’s casting for “The Odyssey” while presenting xAI’s Grok Imagine as an alternative route to feature filmmaking. The claim matters because generative video systems have largely demonstrated their strengths in short clips, while a full-length action movie requires consistent characters, settings, motion and narrative continuity across thousands of shots, alongside synchronized dialogue and sound.

Musk said xAI would use Grok Imagine to produce a complete AI action feature based on “The Odyssey” by the end of 2026. He disclosed no budget, planned running time, distribution strategy or detailed production schedule. The pledge sets a demanding technical test: diffusion models can lose visual consistency over long sequences, while lip synchronization and coherent audio remain difficult. Industry attention is now focused on whether xAI can turn the announcement into a finished film.
