AI Runs Research Gold’s ‘100% Human-Written’ Medical Research Service
Research Gold markets systematic reviews, meta-analyses and publication-ready manuscripts to medical researchers, promising work that is “100% human-written, never AI.” It says PhD methodologists with peer-reviewed records handle projects under standards including PRISMA 2020 and the Cochrane Handbook. Misrepresenting generated material as expert human research would threaten academic integrity, while the unauthorized use of scholars’ identities raises separate concerns over privacy and professional reputation.
404 Media reported on Aug. 11, 2026, that eight purported Research Gold team members appeared to be AI-generated, while profiles of real academics used names, biographies and LinkedIn photographs without permission. A phone agent calling itself Sarah, along with chat and email responses, also appeared AI-generated. The company quoted $1,900 for a systematic review and immediately directed the reporter to a payment portal. Research Gold removed a page featuring real scholars after inquiries and did not comment before publication.
