Lianlian, UnionPay International Team Up on Cross-Border Payment AI Agent
Cross-border procurement typically requires businesses to coordinate supplier discovery, product selection, order creation and payments across different markets. Lianlian and UnionPay International aim to streamline that chain by combining Lianlian’s artificial-intelligence platform with UnionPay International’s cross-border payment network. The partnership highlights growing efforts by payment providers to use autonomous software agents in corporate workflows while retaining human oversight for financial controls.
The companies recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly develop an AI Agent payment solution for global procurement. The system is designed to automate supplier matching, product selection and payment-order generation, with corporate finance teams retaining final approval before funds are released. Lianlian and UnionPay International have not disclosed a launch date, investment amount or expected transaction volume for the service.

The history behind this eventVisa, Lianlian Complete Live B2B AI-Agent Payment
Small and medium-sized businesses often lack dedicated procurement teams, leaving owners to handle supplier searches, purchasing and payments manually. Visa and Lianlian DigiTech are applying agentic AI to that workflow through LoopXPay, an AI agent designed to act within predefined spending limits and approval rules. The test is significant because it demonstrates how companies could automate procurement while retaining visibility, transaction controls and human oversight.
Visa and Lianlian DigiTech said on July 24, 2026, that LoopXPay completed the first live B2B agentic transaction in Greater China. Acting for a small business, the agent sourced a product sample, identified the purchasing requirement, recommended and compared suppliers, placed the order and securely executed payment in one workflow. The companies did not disclose the transaction value. LoopXPay has also been registered in Visa’s Agentic Directory, which identifies verified AI agents.
