FBI Director Reportedly Missed Deadline to Disclose Six-Figure MicroStrategy Stake
Kash Patel has served as director of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) since February 20, 2025. His investment was in MicroStrategy, now known as Strategy, the world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin. Senior officials are legally required to report transactions exceeding $1,000 within 45 days, raising concerns about transparency and potential conflicts of interest after the delayed disclosure.
NOTUS reported on July 1, 2026, that Patel bought $100,001–$250,000 worth of MicroStrategy stock on November 21, 2025, but did not file the disclosure with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics until May 26, 2026. The FBI attributed the delay to a communication error, while Patel called it an “inadvertent oversight.” Watchdog groups questioned whether the delay violated the STOCK Act.
