Cognition CEO Denies SpaceX Acquisition Report

Cognition is an artificial intelligence coding startup focused on tools that automate parts of software development, a field drawing intense investment as companies seek to turn generative AI into commercial products. The acquisition speculation attracted attention because a deal could have expanded SpaceX’s access to AI-assisted programming capabilities while complementing the broader technology and commercialization ambitions associated with xAI.

Bloomberg recently reported that SpaceX had sought to acquire Cognition as part of an effort to accelerate its position in the AI race. The report did not disclose a proposed transaction value. Cognition Chief Executive Officer Scott Wu quickly rejected the account in a post on social media platform X, saying the report was untrue and stressing that the company was not for sale.
