AWS Teams Up With Coinbase and Stripe on Stablecoin Payment Infrastructure for AI Agents

AI agents that autonomously access paid APIs, MCP servers or digital content previously required separate billing and budget-control systems. Amazon Web Services has integrated payments into Bedrock AgentCore and connected wallets from Coinbase and Stripe’s Privy, enabling agents to transact in USDC and providing payment and governance infrastructure for the “agent economy.”

AWS announced the preview of AgentCore Payments on May 7, 2026. After receiving an HTTP 402 response, an agent can use Coinbase x402 to settle USDC payments instantly on Base or Solana. The system also connects to x402 Bazaar, allowing agents to search more than 10,000 paid endpoints. Individual transactions can cost less than $0.01, and developers can set spending limits.
