Taiwan AI Labs Takes Federated AI Into U.S. Defense Supply Chain

Federated learning allows organizations to train shared AI models without pooling raw data, making it attractive for defense networks where security, control and data sovereignty are critical. Taiwan AI Labs has positioned the approach as part of its sovereign AI strategy, seeking to give Taiwan-built technology a role in the trusted technology ecosystem linking the United States and other democratic partners.

Taiwan AI Labs is working with U.S.-based DS Federal to bring its federated-learning technology into the U.S. Department of Defense AI ecosystem. The architecture has passed an assessment by the department’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office, or CDAO, marking the first inclusion of the Taiwanese group’s sovereign AI technology in the U.S. defense industrial supply chain. The partners did not disclose the contract value, deployment scale or a specific launch date.
