Bitmine Joins Russell 1000 as Ether Holdings Rise to 5.7 Million
Bitmine Immersion Technologies has allocated a large portion of its corporate balance sheet to Ether, positioning itself as an Ethereum treasury company. Its inclusion in the Russell 1000 means its shares could attract passive buying from funds that track the index, drawing further attention to the link between crypto-asset holdings and institutional capital in U.S. equities.
As of July 20, 2026, Bitmine said it spent $43 million to buy more than 27,000 Ether during the week of July 13–19, increasing its total holdings to 5.7 million Ether, or about 4.7% of ETH's total supply. The company aims to hold 5% of the supply and is now 0.3 percentage points short of that target.

The history behind this eventBitmine Formally Joins Preliminary Russell 1000 List, With Over $2 Billion in Institutional Inflows Expected
Bitmine (BMNR) has adopted a corporate treasury strategy centered on accumulating Ether and uses capital markets to expand its holdings. FTSE Russell’s consideration of the company for inclusion in the large-cap Russell 1000 Index signals that Bitmine has reached significant size and liquidity thresholds. It would also bring a crypto-linked stock further into the mainstream institutional investment universe.
Bitmine has been included on FTSE Russell’s preliminary list for the Russell 1000 Index and currently has a market capitalization of about $10.15 billion. The reconstitution is expected to take effect on June 26. Market estimates suggest that rebalancing by passive funds tracking the relevant indexes and by active institutional investors could generate more than $2 billion in inflows into BMNR.
