OpenAI and Dell Partner to Bring Codex to Enterprise Hybrid Cloud and On-Premises Environments
When enterprises adopt generative AI, restrictions on moving core code and operational data to the public cloud often arise from compliance requirements. OpenAI and Dell are therefore integrating Codex with the Dell AI Data Platform, allowing large organizations to develop and review software and respond to system incidents across hybrid-cloud and on-premises environments while maintaining data governance and security controls.
The companies recently announced a strategic partnership focused on bringing Codex AI agents closer to enterprises’ core data and supporting hybrid-cloud and on-premises deployments. Businesses will be able to introduce AI-assisted software workflows through their existing Dell infrastructure. As of July 20, 2026, the companies had not disclosed the value of the partnership, a formal launch date, an initial customer list or specific performance data.

The history behind this eventOpenAI Enlists Consulting Firms to Expand Enterprise AI Push
OpenAI is shifting its growth focus toward the enterprise market, led by Codex, an AI tool that can write, review and understand code. Adoption by large companies requires integration with legacy systems, data governance and workflow changes. Working with consulting firms could help customers move more quickly from pilot projects to formal deployment, while strengthening OpenAI’s competitive position after Anthropic’s Claude made inroads into the enterprise market.
OpenAI said on April 21, 2026, that it was expanding partnerships with Accenture, Capgemini, CGI, Cognizant, Infosys, PwC and Tata Consultancy Services. It also launched Codex Labs and will embed specialists with customers. The number of weekly Codex developers rose from more than 3 million to more than 4 million within two weeks. Financial terms of the partnerships were not disclosed.
