On June 15, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice asked the federal court for the Northern District of Mississippi to let it intervene and dismiss a Clean Air Act lawsuit filed by the NAACP on April 14. The plaintiff alleged that xAI operated 27 gas turbines without permits, with each violation carrying a potential fine of $124,426 per day. A Defense Department official said in a sworn declaration that Grok Gov helped deliver more than 2,000 munitions against 2,000 targets within 96 hours during Operation Epic Fury.
