CME Group, Nasdaq to Launch First Crypto Index Futures in June
CME Group and Nasdaq are expanding beyond single-token derivatives with futures tied to a market-cap-weighted basket of crypto assets. The product will give institutional investors diversified exposure through a regulated market, while allowing them to use futures for hedging and asset allocation. The move reflects traditional exchanges’ continued efforts to meet demand for digital-asset investments.
The companies plan to launch the first Nasdaq CME Crypto Index futures in June, covering seven major cryptocurrencies, including BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP. Standard and micro contracts will accommodate investors with different levels of capital and position-sizing needs, targeting demand for compliant crypto investment products across the roughly $85 trillion global institutional asset market.
