Synthesia Launches AI Roleplay Platform for Live Coaching

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-22 · Last active 2026-07-22

British startup Synthesia built its business around AI-generated avatars that help companies produce training videos faster and at lower cost. Its move into live coaching reflects a broader shift in enterprise AI spending: employers increasingly want evidence that software changes worker performance, not merely that it can generate polished content. Roleplay Sessions adds structured practice, scoring and analytics to Synthesia’s proprietary avatar and voice technology, while using OpenAI models for the underlying reasoning.

On July 22, 2026, Synthesia launched Roleplay Sessions, the first product in a broader Sessions platform. Employees can rehearse sales pitches, performance reviews and customer complaints with an AI avatar that responds, pushes back and grades them against a rubric. Synthesia said early scaled deployments include one of Europe’s three largest companies by market value, a top-five Fortune 100 company and a major recruitment group. The service is enterprise-only for now; pricing was not disclosed. Synthesia plans to expand it to small businesses, professionals and education institutions within months.
