Taiwan, Arizona Form AI Alliance to Deepen Chip Cooperation

Arizona is emerging as a US hub for advanced chips and artificial intelligence as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. expands its manufacturing footprint in the state. The Taiwan External Trade Development Council, or TAITRA, and the Arizona Commerce Authority are seeking to connect companies, investors and universities across both markets, extending cooperation beyond factory construction into research commercialization, talent development and technology testing to strengthen the Taiwan-US technology supply chain.

TAITRA Chairman James Huang led 81 Taiwanese companies and more than 150 business executives to the inaugural Arizona AI and Semiconductor Global Forum in Phoenix on April 30, 2026, forming the event’s largest international delegation. During the forum dinner, the Arizona Commerce Authority and Taiwan AI Alliance signed a memorandum of understanding covering cross-border investment, commercialization of research, international talent development, and the use of Arizona as a testbed for Taiwanese AI technologies. No investment value was disclosed.
