Musk’s xAI Leaves Grokipedia Unupdated for Months
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI created Grokipedia as an AI-generated online encyclopedia and an alternative to Wikipedia, which Musk has repeatedly criticized. The service says it contains more than 6 million articles. Its progress matters because an encyclopedia produced with generative AI must demonstrate that it can keep information current, verifiable and dependable at scale.
Grokipedia appears not to have received substantive updates since late April, according to the latest report and timestamps visible on its live pages. The apparent months-long pause persists even as the website continues to claim a catalog exceeding 6 million articles. The lack of recent changes raises questions about xAI’s maintenance of the service and the freshness of information presented to readers.
