Cloudflare Unveils Project Think to Tackle AI Agent Infrastructure Costs and Persistence Challenges

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-16 · Last active 2026-04-16

AI agents performing multistep tasks often need to retain memory and working state for extended periods. Under conventional architectures, maintaining a separate container for each agent consumes computing resources even when the container is idle. Cloudflare is therefore using Durable Objects to improve state persistence, reducing the cost of rebuilding an agent’s environment after an interruption and lowering deployment barriers.

Cloudflare has unveiled Project Think, which combines Durable Objects with Fibers to let AI agents preserve their state and access a code execution environment within milliseconds when needed. This reduces the resources wasted on idle containers. Existing reports have not disclosed a formal launch date, service pricing or the scale of potential cost reductions, and its commercial performance awaits further data.
