Matic Adds Voice and Gesture Controls to Robot Vacuum

Matic’s premium vacuum-and-mop robot uses onboard cameras for navigation and can store maps and household data locally rather than relying on the cloud. The Matic Cues upgrade marks a broader push to make home robots easier to direct without opening an app or drawing a cleaning zone on a digital map, potentially widening access for children, older people and users who do not speak English.

Matic rolled out Cues on Aug. 13, 2026, enabling the robot to understand more than 70 spoken languages and body-language signals such as pointing. After hearing “Hey Matic,” the device can locate the speaker, interpret a gesture, identify the targeted mess in three dimensions and clean it. The company will raise the robot’s price by $250 on Sept. 9, to $1,495 from $1,245, citing higher costs for memory and other components.
