Robinhood Acquires WonderFi to Enter Canada’s Crypto Market
Robinhood announced its acquisition of Canadian crypto technology company WonderFi in May 2025. The deal was intended to give Robinhood a rapid foundation for compliant local operations through WonderFi’s Bitbuy and Coinsquare platforms and existing investment-dealer licenses, formally taking the company into Canada’s cryptoasset market and expanding its reach beyond the United States.
Robinhood completed the transaction on June 1, 2026, acquiring WonderFi for C$0.36 per share in cash. The deal valued WonderFi’s fully diluted equity at about C$250 million, equivalent to US$180 million. It added roughly 300,000 funded customers, lifting Robinhood’s total number of funded international customers above 1 million. WonderFi shares were delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange around June 2.
