OKX Europe Rolls Out Simplified Leveraged Trading Under MiCA, MiFID II

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-08 · Last active 2026-08-08

The European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, or MiCA, has applied in full since Dec. 30, 2024, creating a common rulebook for crypto services. OKX Europe Limited received authorization from the Malta Financial Services Authority on Jan. 27, 2025. Leveraged derivatives are offered separately by OKX Europe Markets Ltd under MiFID II, illustrating how exchanges are placing spot and derivatives businesses within distinct regulatory regimes.

OKX on July 28, 2026, introduced a simple mode for X-Perps, allowing eligible European Economic Area users to open long or short positions from its mobile app in a few taps. The service covers more than 80 markets spanning crypto, stocks, commodities and ETFs, with leverage capped at 10 times and set at three times by default. It also offers locked entry prices and stop-loss and take-profit controls, while requiring users to pass a MiFID appropriateness assessment before trading.
