IBM Establishes AI and Quantum Computing Hubs in Illinois and Massachusetts

IBM is positioning artificial intelligence and quantum computing at the center of the next phase of competition in enterprise technology, using regional research hubs to connect universities, businesses and government resources. The locations in Chicago, Illinois, and Cambridge, Massachusetts, will strengthen research in AI, cybersecurity, data science and quantum technology while helping both areas expand their pools of advanced technology talent.

IBM recently announced the establishment of AI and quantum computing hubs in Chicago and Cambridge. The Chicago project will create 750 full-time jobs spanning artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data science. Reports did not disclose the investment amount, the hubs’ opening dates or the number of new jobs at the Cambridge site. Recruitment progress and the timetable for implementing research partnerships will be key areas to watch.
