X Hires Benji Taylor to Advance X Money Push
X Money is the financial centerpiece of Elon Musk’s plan to turn X into an everything app, with peer-to-peer payments, deposits and a debit card planned. Taylor created the self-custody wallet Family, whose team was acquired by Aave Labs in 2023. He later served as chief product officer and led design for Coinbase’s Base, giving him wallet and DeFi experience that aligns with X’s financial ambitions.
Taylor announced on March 25, 2026, that he had joined X as head of design across X, xAI and SpaceX. Financial terms were not disclosed. X Money has entered limited external testing and is scheduled to launch in more than 40 U.S. states in April 2026, offering a 6% annual yield, P2P payments, a metal Visa card and cash-back rewards. X has not announced plans to add cryptocurrency trading.
