Stitch Fix Leans on AI as GLP-1 Users Reshape Wardrobes
Stitch Fix built its online personal-styling business around algorithms working alongside human stylists, using customer signals on fit, budgets and taste to curate Fix shipments and Freestyle recommendations. Rising use of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs is creating a new retail challenge as clients change sizes and refresh wardrobes more frequently. That shift makes continuously updated sizing data and individualized recommendations more valuable to the company’s effort to deepen engagement and spending.
On March 11, Chief Executive Matt Baer told Stitch Fix’s fiscal second-quarter earnings call that mentions of weight loss in Fix request notes had tripled over two years and jumped 75% from a year earlier in the quarter. The company said its models draw on billions of data points. Among clients using Stitch Fix Vision, 75% returned in subsequent months and Freestyle purchases more than doubled over 90 days. Quarterly revenue rose 9.4% to $341.3 million, with 2.3 million active clients.
