UK Gas Investor Reabold Resources Weighs Bitcoin Mining Plan

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-21 · Last active 2026-04-21

UK gas-investment company Reabold Resources is considering using gas from the West Newton A well site in Yorkshire to generate electricity on-site for Bitcoin mining. It hopes mining revenue could fund further development of the gas field while demonstrating the feasibility of powering data centers with natural gas. The project could later expand into AI and high-performance computing services.

Reabold said on April 20, 2026, that it was evaluating an initial deployment of a small power plant and mining facility, but did not disclose the investment amount or a launch date. British media estimated that resources at the West Newton gas field could theoretically support the mining of 50,000 Bitcoin. Responding to criticism over the use of natural gas, the UK government said only about 1% of the country's gas came from Qatar in 2025 and that the share was not expected to change significantly in 2026.
