SBI Acquires Singapore Crypto Platform Coinhako After MAS Approval

3 reports · First detected 2026-07-17 · Last active 2026-07-18

Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings has expanded aggressively across Asia’s digital-asset sector in recent years. Singapore is an Asia-Pacific cryptocurrency hub, making licenses from the Monetary Authority of Singapore particularly significant. The acquisition gives SBI access to Coinhako’s regulated Singapore platform, allowing it to accelerate its expansion into cross-border on-chain finance, stablecoins and tokenized assets and establish a key link in Asia’s cross-border digital-asset market.

SBI Holdings said on July 16, 2026, that it had received MAS approval and formally completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Coinhako parent Holdbuild through its subsidiary SBI Ventures Asset. Coinhako formally became an SBI subsidiary upon completion of the transaction. Neither party has publicly disclosed the purchase price.
