Stripe Unveils 288 Updates at 2026 Conference, Partners With Google on AI Agent Commerce and Streaming Stablecoin Payments
Stripe, a global payments infrastructure provider, is expanding beyond traditional online checkout into commerce conducted by AI agents. As AI services adopt token-based pricing and agents increasingly make automated purchases and frequent micropayments, the authorization processes and fixed fees of existing credit-card networks are gradually becoming barriers to scaling such transactions.
At its 2026 Sessions annual conference, Stripe unveiled 288 updates. They included a partnership with Google that allows merchants to list products in AI shopping interfaces, as well as support for AI agents to make authorized payments through the Link wallet. Stripe also introduced streaming stablecoin payments using the Tempo blockchain, targeting real-time micropayments for services billed continuously by the token.
