Pay.UK Adds Monzo, Equals and Bank of Ireland Executives to Board

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-20 · Last active 2026-07-20

Pay.UK operates and sets standards for Britain’s core retail interbank systems, including Faster Payments, Bacs and the Image Clearing System, which underpin salaries, bills and cheque clearing. Its governance matters as Britain restructures responsibility for payments modernisation: the Bank of England-chaired Retail Payments Infrastructure Board is shaping the design, a new industry-led Delivery Company will build it, and Pay.UK will keep existing rails running safely during the transition.

Pay.UK said on July 16, 2026 that Alison Berryman of Bank of Ireland UK, Matthijs Boon of Equals and Pranay Ahluwalia of Monzo Bank had joined as industry non-executive directors, effective July 1. The appointments expand the board from 12 to 14 members and establish equal representation between six industry and six independent NEDs, alongside the chair and chief executive. Pay.UK amended its Articles of Association in March 2026 to add three industry NED positions.
