Velera, a payments-focused credit union service organization serving more than 4,000 financial institutions across North America, launched its Fintech Engagement Program in 2024. The free program helps credit unions identify and vet third-party technology solutions. A January 2026 survey found that 56.2% of credit unions believed external partners could accelerate or broaden innovation.

On April 9, 2026, Velera announced its first six partners: Coverbase, InvestiFi, Larky, Spiral, Swaystack and Union Credit. They offer discounts or fee waivers, though specific amounts were not disclosed. The companies also showcased their solutions at VeleraLIVE 2026 in Orlando from April 13 to 15.

Velera Launches BNPL Offering to Bolster Credit Unions’ Digital Payments Edge2026-04-07 · 1 reports · similarity 0.80

Buy now, pay later (BNPL) has expanded beyond big-ticket durable goods into travel, home services and event expenses. Yet PYMNTS Intelligence says nearly half of credit union members still turn to outside providers such as PayPal, Affirm and Klarna for these tools. Velera is therefore embedding installment options into members’ existing financial relationships, helping credit unions strengthen their digital payment services and retain members.

Velera launched Debit Flex Payments on April 7, 2026, giving debit card purchases instant access to installment plans. Apple Pay’s “Pay with Installments” for credit cards is expected to become available in the second half of the year. BNPL transaction value is projected to reach $3.7 trillion by 2030. Major providers recorded a 22% increase in installment value and a 12% rise in transaction volume last year.
