Taiwan Stock Exchange Plans 9 a.m. Start for Intraday Odd-Lot Trading
Intraday odd-lot trading on the Taiwan Stock Exchange currently begins at 9:10 a.m., 10 minutes after round-lot trading starts. Price swings at the open can prevent odd-lot investors from executing trades at the same time as other market participants. The odd-lot system primarily serves retail investors with limited funds, and aligning its trading hours with the round-lot market could provide fairer access to opening prices.
The Taiwan Stock Exchange plans to move the start of intraday odd-lot trading to 9 a.m., in line with round-lot trading. The Financial Supervisory Commission said the new system is expected to take effect by the end of December 2026 at the latest. The change will eliminate the current 10-minute gap, though the exact launch date will be announced after the regulator and the exchange complete the necessary preparations.
