Morgan Stanley Sees China’s AI Ecosystem Creating Trillions of Dollars in Market Value
China is one of the few markets outside the United States with a complete AI value chain spanning chips, cloud computing capacity, large models and application services. Morgan Stanley believes this self-sustaining ecosystem is becoming an important factor as global investors reassess Chinese assets. If its potential value translates into the market capitalization of listed companies, it would also reshape technology investment and financing.
Gokul Laroia, Morgan Stanley’s Asia CEO and global co-head of equities, told the Lujiazui Forum on June 17, 2026, that China’s AI ecosystem could create $3 trillion–$4 trillion in incremental market value, though that potential has yet to be priced into the market. He said annual global AI investment had reached about $1 trillion–$1.5 trillion and recommended that China continue improving its capital markets to attract international capital inflows, which remain insufficient.
