AWS Launches Amazon Bio Discovery to Accelerate AI Drug Development

1 reports · First detected 2026-04-20 · Last active 2026-04-20

Drug discovery has long been hampered by model deployment challenges, data silos and manual handoffs between computer simulations and wet-lab experiments. Amazon Web Services, or AWS, has brought biological foundation models, candidate antibody evaluation and contract research organization validation onto a single platform. The shared workflow allows computational biologists and experimental scientists to accelerate the feedback loop from design to validation.

AWS launched Amazon Bio Discovery on April 14, 2026, offering more than 40 AI biology models along with agentic model selection and candidate screening. In a collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the system generated nearly 300,000 new antibody designs and narrowed them to 100,000 for laboratory testing, cutting a process that traditionally took up to a year to just weeks. AWS did not disclose how much it invested in developing the platform.
