AI Interviewing Startup Mercor Hit by Data Breach; Claims of Taiwan Impact Denied
Mercor is a startup platform that uses AI to help companies screen and interview job candidates. Its systems handle sensitive information including résumés, interview records and model-training data. The incident also highlights how software supply chains can become data-security weak points when companies adopt third-party AI tools.
The latest reports say Mercor lost about 4TB of data in a LiteLLM supply-chain attack, including source code and AI training data, and is facing a lawsuit over the breach. Online claims that Taiwanese companies were affected have been denied by both 104 and PChome. The date of the incident, the number of people affected and the damages sought have not been disclosed.
