BlackBerry Targets Physical AI and Robotics as QNX Drives Growth

BlackBerry, once known for its smartphones, shifted to enterprise software and cybersecurity after ending production of its own handsets in 2016. It is now positioning its safety-certified QNX real-time operating system as a control layer for Physical AI. QNX is embedded in more than 275 million vehicles. BlackBerry also partnered with AMD in 2024 to develop platforms for industrial and medical robots, and added support for Nvidia IGX Thor in April 2026.

For the year ended February 28, 2026, QNX revenue rose 14% to $268 million, while BlackBerry swung to net income of $53.2 million from a $79 million loss the previous year. First-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue, reported on June 25, rose 26% to $152.9 million, including $72.3 million from QNX. BlackBerry raised its full-year QNX revenue forecast to $295 million–$312 million.
