CTBC Bank Wins Taiwan Recognition After Blocking NT$2 Billion in Scams

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-31 · Last active 2026-08-31

Banks have become a critical line of defense in Taiwan as increasingly digital fraud schemes seek to move victims’ money through financial accounts. CTBC Bank has built a layered prevention system using artificial intelligence, big-data analytics and abnormal-transaction monitoring, combining technology-led detection with branch intervention and information sharing across institutions to identify suspicious activity and reduce customer losses.

CTBC Bank blocked more than 2,500 scam cases in 2025, preventing losses of over NT$2 billion ($63 million), and ranked first in both the number and value of intercepted transactions. Taiwan’s Executive Yuan honored the lender with its award for institutions actively committed to fraud prevention, recognizing CTBC’s use of technology-based risk alerts and its cooperation with government agencies and other partners.
