AI Demand Drives PCB Hiring, With Job Openings Up 26% and Closing In on Semiconductors

2 reports · First detected 2026-03-30 · Last active 2026-03-30

AI and high-performance computing are fueling demand for servers, advanced packaging and high-speed data transmission, prompting the printed circuit board (PCB) industry to expand capacity and hire more workers. A survey by a recruitment platform found that technology-sector demand is shifting from traditional engineering roles toward advanced skills such as AI applications and data analytics, making PCB one of the most sought-after fields after semiconductors and IC design.

The latest figures show that PCB industry job openings rose 26% from a year earlier, while application activity is also closing in on the semiconductor sector. The Global Electronics Association separately said 68% of companies worldwide have adopted AI, but five factors — data quality, talent shortages, system integration, costs and governance — continue to prevent businesses from scaling AI beyond the experimental stage.
