Linde LienHwa Gains as Japanese Suppliers Halt Tungsten Hexafluoride

Tungsten hexafluoride, or WF6, is a critical gas used to deposit tungsten films in semiconductor manufacturing, making reliable supply essential for advanced logic and high-end chip production. Japan’s Kanto Denka Kogyo and Central Glass have decided to permanently halt production after Chinese raw-material controls constrained their operations, raising the risk of a supply-chain disruption for leading chipmakers.

TSMC has responded by accelerating supplier diversification and reallocating orders, positioning Taiwan-German joint venture Linde LienHwa as a key beneficiary. Its access to raw materials and Taiwan-based supply footprint strengthen its role as a strategic WF6 supplier. As of July 22, 2026, reports had not disclosed the shutdowns’ effective dates, the volume of orders transferred or any contract value.
