Pi Wallet Fixes Firewall Flaw, Deploys EDR After Data Breach
Pi Wallet is operated by Pai Fu International, a digital payments company owned by Taiwanese e-commerce group PChome. The cybersecurity incident drew scrutiny because attackers gained unauthorized access to some employee files and members’ personal information, raising concerns about data protection at payment platforms. The company said its core transaction system was not affected and that payment and fund-processing operations remained secure.
Pai Fu International said its investigation found that hackers exploited a firewall vulnerability to enter its systems and access a limited set of internal files and customer data. The company has patched the flaw and strengthened its defenses. It has also deployed an endpoint detection and response, or EDR, system to improve device monitoring, identify suspicious activity and accelerate its response to future security incidents.
