Percepto Launches AI Drone Platform for Energy Inspections
Oil and gas producers and electric utilities face rising inspection workloads as infrastructure grows more complex and experienced field personnel become harder to scale. Austin-based Percepto is seeking to automate part of that work with drones, remote operations and artificial intelligence, allowing operators to monitor assets more frequently, identify anomalies earlier and reduce workers’ exposure to hazardous sites. The approach could help shift maintenance from scheduled or reactive checks toward risk-based intervention.
Percepto unveiled its next-generation inspection intelligence platform on June 22, 2026. The system combines Percepto Air drones, inspection-grade onboard autonomy, contextual AI, AIM asset intelligence and managed remote operations, applying logic designed to mimic how expert inspectors capture and assess field data. A related case account said one drone flight detected an issue in time to avert a potential 30-day outage. Percepto did not disclose pricing, customer savings or the investment behind the launch.
