But faster code generation does not remove the complexity of production systems. Architecture, data management and operational discipline still determine whether software can scale reliably and remain economical over time.
AI researcher Andrew Ng said developers should not interpret vibe coding as eliminating the need to understand programming or software engineering. Relying on AI-generated code without grasping the broader system can lead to poor architectural decisions, particularly when balancing latency, reliability and cost. Those trade-offs become more consequential as an application moves beyond a prototype and into production, where failures and inefficient infrastructure carry lasting operational costs.
