Bun Founder Rewrites 530,000 Lines With AI as MCP Adds Enterprise Controls

Bun has positioned itself as a high-performance, all-in-one alternative in the JavaScript runtime market, challenging parts of the Node.js toolchain. Its founder’s use of Anthropic’s Claude Code to refactor core infrastructure shows how AI coding is moving beyond autocomplete toward coordinated, reviewable work on large software systems. In the latest project, Bun’s founder used multiple AI agents to rewrite about 530,000 lines of core code in Rust in 11 days, a striking test of AI-assisted development at scale. Separately, MCP released its Enterprise-Managed Authorization extension, allowing companies to govern agents’ access to tools through existing identity-management systems instead of handling permissions service by service. The reports disclosed no financial amount and did not provide exact completion or publication dates, but identified the 11-day rewrite window as the key timetable.
