HKEX Extends Bonnie Chan’s CEO Term Through February 2030
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd. operates the city’s securities and derivatives markets and plays a central role in its status as an international financial hub. Bonnie Chan became HKEX chief executive in March 2024 and has overseen business expansion and upgrades to market technology infrastructure. Leadership continuity is important as global exchanges compete for listings, trading activity and cross-border capital flows.
HKEX’s board has approved a three-year renewal for Chan, extending her tenure through Feb. 28, 2030. The appointment, which gives her a second term as chief executive, has received formal approval from Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission. Chan will remain responsible for advancing HKEX’s growth strategy and modernizing the technology infrastructure underpinning its markets.
