Salad Finance Raises £4.3 Million to Expand Lending to Credit-Invisible Workers
Salad Finance targets employed UK workers who struggle to access mainstream credit because they have thin or nonexistent credit files. The lender uses Open Banking and transaction-level data to assess income, spending and repayment capacity instead of relying primarily on conventional credit scores. Its model offers loans of up to £2,000 at more affordable rates, addressing a financing gap that can otherwise push credit-invisible borrowers toward high-cost lenders.
As of August 2026, Salad Finance had raised a cumulative £4.3 million through bonds offered on the Ethex platform, surpassing its fundraising target ahead of schedule. The company said it has provided more than £300 million in loans to over 190,000 people across the UK. The additional capital is intended to expand lending to financially excluded but steadily employed workers.
