OpenAI Global Hackathon Makes Taiwan Debut
OpenAI’s global Build Week hackathon has made its Taiwan debut, organized by the local buildwithharry community. The event focuses on cutting-edge technologies including Codex and GPT, encouraging developers to build applications centered on agentic coding. It gives Taiwan’s software talent a platform to engage with the international AI ecosystem while highlighting the island’s key role in AI innovation across Asia.
The hackathon was held across Taichung, Kaohsiung and Taipei in mid-July 2026. Workshops in Taichung and Kaohsiung concluded on July 13 and 14, respectively, while the Taipei final was scheduled for July 19 at the t.Hub innovation and incubation center in Neihu. The winner will receive $5,000 in OpenAI API credits, with the second- and third-place teams receiving $2,500 and $1,000, respectively.
