SAM Launches Zero-Trust P2P Network for AI Agents
Sovereign Agent Mesh, or SAM, is an open-source networking project built for autonomous AI agents operating across cloud systems, enterprise networks and edge devices. Its zero-configuration, zero-trust peer-to-peer overlay is designed to let agents securely share tools and large-language-model resources through the Model Context Protocol, addressing a growing infrastructure challenge as agentic software moves beyond isolated applications and begins coordinating across distributed environments.
The latest “Meet SAM” project overview says the network combines automatic peer discovery, encrypted communications and authorization controls, allowing endpoints to establish governed connections without advance network configuration. The disclosed materials did not provide a funding amount, adoption figures or a formal launch date. For now, SAM’s significance rests on its open-source approach to testing whether AI agents can collaborate securely across cloud and edge infrastructure without relying on a centrally managed network layer.
