Trump Accounts Draw 7 Million Children, Assets Seen at $900 Billion

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-28 · Last active 2026-07-28

Trump Accounts were created under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law on July 4, 2025, to give more American families an early foothold in capital markets. Eligible U.S. children born from 2025 through 2028 receive a $1,000 Treasury-funded deposit, invested in a low-cost fund tracking the S&P 500. The initiative is intended to promote long-term saving and broaden access to investment gains traditionally concentrated among wealthier households.

More than 7 million children have registered for Trump Accounts since enrollment opened on July 4, 2026, according to the U.S. Treasury Department. McKinsey & Company estimates the accounts could accumulate as much as $900 billion in financial assets over the next decade if participation and additional contributions from families and employers continue. The early registration figure suggests the program could develop from a newborn benefit into a significant pool of household investment capital.
