Anthropic Acquires Vercept to Bolster Claude’s Computer-Use Capabilities
Anthropic put the “computer use” feature in Claude 3.5 Sonnet into public beta on October 22, 2024, enabling the model to interpret on-screen content, move a cursor and operate software. Vercept specializes in enabling AI to understand interfaces and complete multistep tasks across applications. The company raised a $16 million seed round in January 2025 at a post-money valuation of $67 million, making it an acquisition target in the race to develop AI agents.
Anthropic announced its acquisition of Vercept on February 25, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal brings Vercept’s team into Anthropic to strengthen Claude’s ability to perceive and operate within applications. Vercept co-founder Matt Deitke moved to Meta in mid-2025 and reportedly secured a four-year, $250 million compensation package. The other co-founders and the team have joined Anthropic to continue developing AI agent technology.

Anthropic announced its acquisition of Vercept on Feb. 25, 2026, without disclosing the purchase price. Vercept's team will join Anthropic, and Vy will cease operations on March 25. Its technology will be integrated into Claude. Claude Sonnet 4.6 scored 72.5% on OSWorld, up from less than 15% at the end of 2024.
