Bitcoin Rebound and Aave Governance Rift Draw DeFi Market Scrutiny
Bitcoin is a key barometer for the crypto market, while flows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reflect institutional demand. Aave is a major DeFi lending protocol governed by the Aave DAO. The departure of leading governance delegate Aave Chan Initiative (ACI) could affect proposal reviews and ecosystem operations.
Bitcoin fell as low as $63,245 on March 1, 2026, before briefly recovering to $73,000 on March 5. As of that day, U.S. spot ETFs had recorded $1.1 billion in net inflows for the week. On March 3, ACI announced that it would not renew its contract and would withdraw over the next four months. The catalyst was an Aave Labs proposal seeking $42.5 million and 75,000 AAVE, which received preliminary support of 52.58% in a Snapshot vote.
