Somnia Showcases High-Speed Layer 1 at Consensus Hong Kong
Somnia is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain designed for high-throughput applications, including onchain trading, real-time finance and AI agents. Its pitch addresses a persistent constraint in decentralized markets: base-layer infrastructure must deliver low latency and deep liquidity at scale before market makers and financial institutions can move more activity onchain. Performance claims are therefore central to Somnia’s effort to differentiate itself in a crowded blockchain sector.
During Consensus Hong Kong 2026, Somnia hosted an invitation-only networking dinner that brought together market makers and liquidity providers to discuss the future of decentralized markets. The company showcased its Agentic L1 technology, which it says can process 1 million transactions per second. Somnia positioned that capacity as a response to existing blockchain infrastructure that it argues cannot meet the speed and scale required by modern financial markets.
